Formula 1 is the most popular motorsport in the world and righly so considering its world wide following. It is also one of the most expensive sport to watch on the circuits. Taking place around the world in different cities from March to December every year, every grand prix holds some sort of importance in motorsport. From iconic circuits to incredible history of some of the european grand prix make the F1 season a special event. 
 

The f1 drivers are very well paid to say the least and they are some of the finest athletes in the world. The current title rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are both rated highly on the tracks and off it as well. Both are paid over $40 million a year salary by Red Bull and Mercedez respectively. We take a look at some of the highest paid F1 drivers in 2022.

Lewis Hamilton has been the highest paid driver since 2016:

Lewis Hamilton is 7 time f1 world cup champion and 6 of his titles came with Mercedez. He has won 5 of the last 7 F1 titles and along the way singed couple of contract extensions with Mercedez making him undisputed highest paid formula 1 driver with a yearly salary of $54 million a year. His current 2 year deal runs from 2021 to 2023 season where Mercedes pay him basic $40 million a year plus bonues for winning the grand prixs and f1 titles. His max yearly salary can reach upwards of 54 million.

Max Verstappen's recent contract ?

After winning the 2021 Formula 1 drivers championship, Max Verstappen signed a financially improved 7-year contract worth around $53 million a year (including max bonuses). His basic salary is around $38 million a year.
