Marcus Rashford Record Against Top 6 Teams In Premier League

Marcus Rashford burst on to the scene at Old Trafford back in 2016 in the game against Arsenal. He scored a brace on his Premier League debut and also grabbed an assist. It took Rashford 6 years to score against Arsenal again which he did last weekend in 3-1 win over Arsenal. Interestingly he scored a brace and created an assist in that game as well. With that performance many people are thinking he is back in form after couple of very below par seasons. However if we look at his record against the top 6 sides in premier league and compared that to low block sides you will find its not his form, he just do much better playing against bigger sides then that of midtable or bottom table sides.

23 Goals Against Traditional Top 6 Teams In England:

Since his debut for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has played 71 games against the so called top 6 (City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea). He has scored 23 goals and assisted 12 making his total goal contribution 35 over 71 matches. Now that give him .50 strike rate in terms of goal involvement. Now if we were to compare that to his stats against other sides in premier league you will see a contrasting difference.

44 Goals Against Mid/lower Table Teams:

Rashford has played 154 matches other then traditional top 6 teams (Including Premier league, FA Cup and EFL Cup). In those games he has scored 44 goals and created 31 assists. That give him 75 goal contribution in 154 matches. That give him around the same 0.51 strike rate in terms of goal contribution.

That pretty much sum up his career so far. At the start of his career he maintained a same goal/assist to game ratio and with time you hoped he will improve on that. But he has been consistently producing similar numbers year after year. At the age of 24, he still has time to hit his peak but as things stage. It does not look he will become more prolific so to speak.
