Ranking The Best Chelsea Managers Since Abramovich Era 2004-2022

Chelsea has announced Graham Potter as their new managers on a 5-year deal who will replace Thomas Tuchel at the helm. This is the first manager change by new owner Todd Boehly who bought the club from Roman Abramovich. We go back in recent history and rank through the Chelsea managers since Abrahimovic era started back in 2004. Chelsea's new era started 19 years ago when Abramovic took over as the owner and although he changed so many managers it actually helped club to sustain their success at the very top during his tenure.

1. Jose Mourinho I (2004 to 2007)

Jose Mourinho as Abramovic's very first manager change and he came in and announced himself as the special one. He really was in his first stint at the club guiding Chelsea to back to back Premier League titles and also wrecking havoc in Champions League. Although he failed to win the biggest prize with Chelsea he established a winning culture which would help the club even after his departure.

2. Antonio Conte (2016 to 2018)

We put Conte in second place because he was fighting in the league alongside the likes of Pep Guardiola's Man City and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool. To win the title with those two in the league was an achievement in itself. He managed to win Premier League and one FA Cup.

3. Carlo Ancelotti (2009-2011)

Another short but successful journey, Ancelotti was appoint in 2009 and he would help the club get better of one of greatest Premier League sides in Manchester United during their very successful era. He guided the club to 1 premier league and 1 FA Cup in his two year stay.

4. Thomas Tuchel (2021-2022)

Now this was an appointment which had instant impact. Tuchel was brought in by Abramovich during the 2020/21 season and he immediately guided the club to Champions League glory second time in clubs history. He also managed to win Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. It is also notable that he played two finals in 2021-22 season in League Cup and FA Cup losing both on penalties against Liverpool. He became the first managerial victim of new owner Todd Boehly's reign.

5. Jose Mourinho II (2013-2015)

Another important arrival although a familiar one. Jose Mourinho who was not special anymore came and developed his younger horses to premier league glory in his second season. He also won League Cup and sustain the success before things turn sour and he was sacked midway through the 2015/2016 season.
